This is still shocking 16 years on.

9/11 Happened more than 15 years ago, but that doesn't mean people are going to forget what happened anytime soon. In fact. From time to time, old private footage of the event becomes again, re-igniting debate whether the measures taken after 9/11 were good and bad, alongside plausible and kooky conspiracy theories. Today we are going to be reviewing the story of Caroline Dries, whose video of the two burning towers is going viral again.
The Footage Remains Powerful to This Day
Any footage of 9/11 is going to be chilling, even today. The sound, the visuals, and the amount of pain caused by this event won't die down even a hundred years into the future. Caroline Dries video is no different.
The Video is Trending on Reddit
The video started to go viral again because it got posted on one of the largest subreddits on Reddit - /r/video. The video has over 1,600 comments, and hundreds of thousands new views. It was just after the 15th anniversary.
Caroline Was a Student In the Nearby NYU Dormitory
Caroline Dries, the girl who filmed this chilling video, was just a student back then, living in the nearby NTY dormitory. For the first minute or so, she wasn't aware that she was filming a terrorist attack. She probably thought some kind of fire broke out.
She Went on To Become a TV Writer
You can clearly see from the time she took this 9/11 video, that Caroline enjoyed filming. In the years after the 9/11 terrorist attack, she went on to become a TV writer and products, for shows such as Smallville, Melrose Place, and The Vampire Diaries.
The First Explosion Awoke Her Roommate
Caroline's roommate, Megan, was the first to get up at 8:46 am since she heard the first explosion. They didn't have any idea what was happening. After getting out from her bed, Carline started filming out of her dormitory window.
She Saw the Smoke Coming From the North Tower
Caroline started filming events from the 32nd floor at 200 Water Street. She saw the smoke coming from the North Tower of the World Trade Center, which obviously scared her and her roommate. What they didn't know was that a second explosion was soon to come.
She Explains the Situation to Her Mother
Confusion soars into the room, as Megan and Caroline talk, trying to figure out what is happening. Megan is talking on the phone with her mother, explaining the situation as it unfolds. After a few minutes, the second blasts occurs.
The South Tower Was Attacked At 9:03 am
Just as Megan is talking with her mother, and Caroline is filming, a 747 Jet hits the South Tower of the World Trade Center. Both of the girls start to frantically scream, yelling "it's a terrorist attack!" They try to evacuate the building.
The Leave the Building
Megan is the first to leave the building, with Caroline closely following. The girls get on the street, but they feel even less safe, due to all the chaos that is going on. They return to their room and watched the South Tower collapse at 9:59 am.
"I Don't Know What to Do"
During an interview with CNN in 2011, Caroline said, "I just remember feeling, 'I don't know what to do.' That feeling of being so vulnerable was so overwhelming; and so, we ran out of the apartment, took the elevator down to the street, and it was just kind of pandemonium with no one knowing what [was] happening."
It Took 10 Years to Realize Why the Footage Was Special
Caroline continued the interview, saying "It took kind of ten years for me to understand why this footage is special. People, I think, want to remember the details clearly and to hold onto it because they know how significant it was."
She Sometimes Regrets Filming the Attack
In the next part of the interview, Caroline reminisces, "Sometimes I think it would have been nice to have not filmed it - to just have run and let time kind of erase all the details and it would have gone a little faster."
Conspiracy Theories Regarding the 9/11 Attack
All major world events are "followed" by an avalanche of conspiracy theories. This is how the human mind naturally works - we always want to question things, learn more about things, and when enough people do the questioning, paranoid might ensue.
How the Twin Towers Went Down
We obviously know from the videos that the twin towers (the South Tower and the North Tower) went down because they were hit by large airplanes, and many of their floors caught fire. Some theories claim that explosives actually bought the towers down.
The Pentagon Was Also Attacked
Another popular conspiracy theory is that the Pentagon was not actually hit by an airplane, but that it was attacked by a missile. This theory has no sense, as for how would the terrorist bring a missile launcher into the US?
