Man Survives By Eating Nothing But Taco Bell Sauce For Five Days

Jeremy Taylor was stuck in a car for five days, so naturally he ate only hot sauce.

How far would you go to survive? Can you even imagine the circumstances in which you would be forced to have to fight for your life? It's something that hopefully many of us will never have to deal with, but for some unlucky people, these become defining moments in their lives.
While there are many people who come out on top when faced with a deadly situation, there are many who simply succumb and die. Without crafty thinking, and a will to survive, that could easily be any one of our fates. That's why these situations really test who we are, and how badly we truly want to live.
The Donner party were forced to eat each other to survive after their plane crashed, which is about as bad as it gets. Luckily, this story is about a much more favorable version of the Donner party's predicament. In this story, a man survived for five days in his car by subsisting off of Taco Bell sauce.
A Man and his Dog Get Caught in a Storm
You might want to think twice the next time you're planning on throwing out your old fast food condiments from your car. You never know when you might need them. Not just for seasoning your food, but for saving your life. This is what happened with Jeremy Taylor, a 36-year-old man from oregon who could have died recently if it weren't for some very special sauce packets.
Jeremy Taylor had been driving across Deschutes County in Oregon in early March when his SUV got caught in the snow. He made the decision to stop the car and sleep in it overnight with his dog, Ally, hoping that it would end up dying down over the course of the night. The next morning they had hoped for the snow to die down, but it only got worse.
Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner - Hot Sauce
When Jeremy Taylor awoke, he tried to hike through the snow with his dog, however, it proved to be far too deep. He knew they would end up getting lost out in the cold if they continued, so they retreated back to their car to await help. What they hoped would only be a couple of hours turned to five days. That may seem like an unbelievable amount of time to stay in a car, but they luckily had Taco Bell sauce packets to keep them fed. The Taco Bell packets and occasionally turning on the heater were their only comforts.
After five days a snowmobiler found Jeremy and his dog, leading to their successful rescue. The Deschutes County sheriff's office wrote the following in a social media post: "Jeremy and Ally were found to be in good condition, but hungry after being stuck in the snow for five days."
Free Taco Bell for a year
If you're thinking this was a great PR opportunity for Taco Bell, you're right. Taco Bell reached out to Jeremy Taylor to offer him a year's worth of free Taco Bell food. It's unclear how much Jeremy Taylor might use that after having spent five days subsisting off of it, but it's a great gesture nonetheless. In a social media post, Jeremy Taylor said, "I'm safe, my Ally dog is safe. I really appreciate all the help. Got lucky, lets never do that again. I'll be in touch with everyone soon."
Make no mistake that Jeremy Taylor definitely thanks Taco Bell for their part in his rescue. In a Facebook comment he said, "Taco Bell fire sauce saves lives." He couldn't be more right, though a diet of Taco Bell Fire Sauce might not be the best choice if you're not stuck in a car.
