There was a terrifying accident that happened at a Yankees game recently. It all happened during a three-game series, in which the Yankees played against the Minnesota Twins. The Yankees third baseman Todd Frazier send out a line drive foul ball that went straight into a little girl that was in the stands, hitting her in the face. Reports on the ground say that the ball was going 105 mph. Many of the fans fell in shock, and some of the players even started to weep.
Here is the Toddler
This is the last picture that was taken of the little girl after she was hit by the ball that was going 105 mph. Frazier literally dropped to his knees in sadness after this happened. It is not often that something can bring down a world-class athlete.
There Was no Protective Netting
The whole problem begins with the fact that the Yankees stadium had no protective netting at the time of the incident. Many stadiums have been recently installed this protective measure, which is sure to help prevent this kind of problem from happening again.
The Child Was Carried Out
The child survived but was severely bloodies by the incident. In the picture, it can be seen that the little girl was carried out of the stadium and into the hospital by an older man. She has a long road to recovery, and we hope her the best.
The Story is Getting Viral
The incident happened a few days ago, but it has been getting worldwide attention. There is still no mandatory protective netting for the stadiums in the league, although all 30 Major League Baseballs teams have been encouraged to do so.
The Players are Urging MLB to Prioritize Safety
After this incident happened, both players and MLB fans have been urging authorities to prioritize the installment of security netting. There are 30 teams playing in the league, and the cost of implementing this solution is not that high.
World Class Athletes Were Shocked
Many of the players were seeing weeping and falling down on their knees. They were heartbroken buy what happened, and like you can see in the picture above - it is truly rare to see such great men get shaken up so drastically.
The Father of the Girl Gave an Interview
There have been some recent developments after this whole incident. The father of the little girl that got hit gave an interview, in which he said many thoughtful things about Frazier. It appears that they've made up and there are no hard feelings between them.
"He is a better person and that is what really matters"
During an interview with the New York Times, Jacobson, the girl's father said: "Not only is he a world-class athlete, but he is a better person and that is what really matters." I also hope their children would someday meet and laugh about this whole thing.
He Has a Son that is a Similar Age
Todd Frazier was severely affected by what happened, in part because he has a son that is of a similar age to the girl he hit. I'm sure this deeply affected him - thinking how we would feel and what he would do if something like this happened to his son.
The Father is Not Happy
Although Jacobson made up with Frazier, he was certainly not happy with the lack of protective netting in the stadium. This is understandable, as no one would find it easy to come to terms in a terrible situation like this.
More Good News Coming Out
In a recent interview, Todd Frazier told reports that he had finally learned about the little girl's health - she has had a few fractures, but that she is out of the hospital, and that is "good news." We can all agree on this one.
Security Will be Improved in 2018
The Yankees have finally made an announcement that the new security netting is going to be installed in 2018. Frazier announced during an interview that this news is "Awesome. That's great!" This is a good step for the Yankees and their fans.
"Every team should have it"
Todd continued the interview, saying "I think not only here, but every team should have it. It's a good step forward by the Yankees. That's awesome, what they're doing. I'm very proud to say I'm playing for this team, and with these changes, it's really nice."
He is In Constant Contact with the Family
Todd found about the great news about the girl's health after Sunday's regular-season finale. He has been in constant contact with the family of the girl, although this communication has been somewhat down in recent days, which is quite unfortunately however the effort is something to be noted.
Getting Back to Normal
Part of why he is communicating less with the family is that they are trying to settle in and get back to a normal life. He also said that there has not been any decision made about inviting the family to the team's wild-card game next Tuesday.
